Matthews Studio Equipment – NAB 2014

Matthews Studio Equipment the Burbank, CA-based camera and lighting support company has outdone itself for NAB 2014. This year they will be presenting close to a dozen new products from the smallest FloatCam™ Wireless Follow Focus/Zoom Control to the biggest Intel-A-Big Jib. And many things in-between at Booth #C5437 – Central Hall.

FloatCam™ Pan/Tilt head. A lightweight, wireless and remote head perfect for both live action and time lapse. This new 360-degree pan/tilt head is compatible with FloatCam’s DC and HDDC Slider as well as compatible camera supports from jib to slider and tripod mounts. Controls are via a multi-axis joystick with a built in microprocessor to program, record and playback up to 10 moves.

FloatCam’s Wireless Follow Focus/Zoom Control. Wireless Follow Focus/Zoom Control in a range up to 490’ (150mm). Each set up can be programmed with up to 9 different settings. The system synchronizes with the new FloatCam Wireless Pan/Tilt Head.

Intel-A-Big Jib. When you need to reach beyond what our popular Intel-A-Jib can reach  – The Doorway Dolly Mounted Intel-A-Big Jib is the answer. This new Jib can carry payloads up to 120 lbs. (54.4kg) at 7’ (2.1m), 80lbs (36.2kg) at 11’ (3.3m), 50lbs. (22.6kg) at 15’ (4.5m) and 35lbs (15.8kg) at 19’ (5.7m). It can reach 19’ (5.8m) and drop to 7’11” (2.2m) below the horizontal. The Solid Base Tubes mount directly to the steel frame of the Dolly and have four adjustable Support Rods to maximize stability. MSE has also designed a special case for easy transport.

Matthews MAKALU. A new light-weight remote head for live action, time lapse and visual effects cinematography. The user interface is a multi-axis jog box connected via wi-fi to an iPad mini. This setup allows the user to have precise control of the head and to configure it for a variety of applications with minimum components. It will allow record and playback moves, key frame camera positions and create automatic and manual smooth fits with them, and run these moves at different camera speeds.

MINIVATOR II. A stronger and taller version of the well known MINIVATOR stand, perfect for payloads to 80lbs with an added maximum height without sacrificing strength, safety or stability. It features a double cable mechanism that will keep both risers traveling at equal proportions with each turn of the handle, allowing for firm and steady movement of any lighting fixture. Maximum height 142” (361cm), weight at 48lbs (21.8kg) and covers a footprint of 58” (250cm).
