Interesting how out of twenty four filmmakers, you couldn’t include one woman…

Yea, we thought that was an unfortunate omittance on FilmSavvy’s infographic too.

There are a myriad of amazing women directors, like Kathryn Bigelow, Nora Efron, Sofia Coppella, Mary Harron and New Zealand’s Jane Campion, just to name a few that were equally (if not more) worthy of a place on this list.

If you take a look at out our list of Filmmaking Advice from 36 Legendary Directors, you’ll see a few women directors in there. However, it’s still not nearly enough. Women are still underrepresented in far too many areas within the film industry.

There are far few women in leadership roles and crew roles, but things are beginning to change. I wrote about some of those changes in my piece Gender Equality and the European Film Industry.
