AUSTRALIAN CINEMATOGRAPHERS SOCIETY POSTPONES 2020 NATIONAL AWARDS

The rapid evolution of the COVID-19 situation continues to pose many challenges for all individuals, communities, government and business. As a result the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) has decided to postpone their National Awards which were to be held in May this year at the National Gallery in Canberra.

Australian Cinematographers Society National President Ron Johanson OAM ACS explained, “During these difficult and exceptional times our ACS 2020 National Awards for Cinematography and associated events will be postponed until the situation with the Coronavirus COVID-19 is resolved. We are also currently looking at an alternative way to hold our AGM.”

The ACS has also requested that its state branches not hold any screenings, Q&As or other events where members and their guests may have to congregate in confined spaces.

Johanson added, “The safety and wellbeing of our members, committees and guests is paramount. The ACS is also well aware that many of our members will be impacted and disadvantaged due to the restrictions on gatherings and the downturn in productions and thus as a society we will offer any and every assistance that we can.”
