Tropfest has revealed the 20 most popular Vines as a shortlist ahead of the winner reveal on September 26.
Viners from all around the world have been busy creating extremely short films for the chance to take out the competition.
Michael Laverty, Tropfest Managing Director explains “This year saw our first #TROPVINE Competition; we have been blown away by the submissions by filmmakers. The Vine platform is such an interesting platform for filmmakers; the six second time frame really challenges users to tell stories in unique and creative ways, and we’ve certainly seen that demonstrated in the entries received for #TROPVINE. It is an exciting space to watch.”
Entries to Tropfest 2014 are closing on October 9 and the festival is encouraging filmmakers to check out the Vines for some last minute inspiration, “We saw some very interesting takes on the Tropfest Signature Item, there was everything from references to Michael Jackson to Twilight and Roulette animations. It has the Trop team in high anticipation for entries to the main Tropfest competition over the coming weeks.”
The Tropvine comp prizes include a VIP trip to Tropfest Australia 2014, including Qantas flights to Sydney, accommodation at QT Sydney, Nikon camera gear,VIP tickets to Tropfest Australia 2014 and lunch with the crew from Twitter Australia.
Not only has this been Tropfest’s inaugural Vine competition, but it is also the first official Vine competition in Australia.
In a partnership with Twitter, the competition ran over eight weeks with entries open from July 27 until midnight on September 21, 2014, with the winner to be announced on September 26.
Tropfest has announced the winning Vine from Tee Ken Ng, Mirror Copy.
