Video Devices has launched the first optional accessories for the popular Pix-E recording monitors, the Pix-LR audio interface.
The new audio interface adds XLR inputs and outputs to the Pix-E monitors, along with dedicated transport and gain controls, 23-segment LED metering and (the company’s audio arm) Sound Devices signature microphone preamps.
Other features include audio limiters with LED indication (to prevent distortion), high-pass filters (for reducing unwanted low frequencies noise) and the previously mentioned gain controls, which can be recessed when not in use. The unit also features large-sized backlit transport controls for record, stop, play, fast-forward and rewind.
The unit’s connectors consist of two XLR-3F active-balance, analog mic-level inputs (1 and 2) which can be linked, for stereo level and pan control, and feature 48V phantom power (for condenser mics). Along with two standard, 3-pin XLR-3M outputs.
The units constructed from die-cast aluminum and is powered by the monitor which it’s mounted to (at the bottom) via a ¼-inch 20 thread screw.
“The Pix-LR is a great way to bring our renowned Sound Devices audio integrity into our Video Devices products line,” says Paul Isaacs, Director of Product Management and Design, Sound Devices, LLC.
