BLACKMAGIC DELIVERS

After extended delays, the long-awaited and much-vaunted Blackmagic Cinema Camera and Pocket Cinema Cameras are now available in Australia. The Cinema Camera ($2475 RRP) features a 2.5K image sensor with a wide 13 stops of dynamic range and comes with a built-in SSD recorder, popular open standard uncompressed Raw and compressed file formats, compatibility with quality EF or passive micro four-thirds lenses, LCD touchscreen monitoring plus metadata entry, all in compact handheld design. DaVinci Resolve software for Mac and Windows is also included.

The Pocket Cinema Camera ($1239 RRP) is a very compact and affordable interchangeable lens camera that records lossless 12-bit CinemaDNG Raw files and Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) files direct to fast SD cards. It uses a micro four-thirds lens mount so it’s compatible with a range of existing lenses from companies like Panasonic and Olympus. Software updates for both cameras are available on the company’s website.

The Production Camera 4K won’t be landing for some weeks yet while the company irons out a few software issues, according to Blackmagic boss Grant Petty in a statement on the company’s forum: http://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12192
