Nikon Australia is pleased to announce the highly-anticipated release of the Nikon D4S. Following the development announcement of the D4S in January, and with exclusive first-looks offered at CES and CP+, Nikon is now excited to reveal the upgraded features of its latest flagship FX-format DSLR. The new camera got a recent test drive at the Sochi Winter Olympics (sample pictures are attached at the end of the article).
Developed as the next-generation flagship successor to the D4, D4S functions, features, and performance were thoroughly examined and analysed from a variety of angles, resulting in a digital SLR camera that responds more completely to the demands of professional photographers. With this background, the D4S was developed to embody Nikon’s response to the demands of professional photographers, upon which Nikon places great importance, with functions and performance that support shooting in even the most difficult environments, and are able to respond to a variety of subjects and situations, as well as various lighting conditions.
Upgraded features of the D4S include:
- A new 16.23 image sensor specifically matched to the new EXPEED 4 image processor delivers stunning images that exhibit even greater sharpness and enhanced depth
- Extendable ISO range from 50 to 409600 for unrivalled low light performance
- Adoption of a new Group-area AF mode combined with an optimized algorithm used by the AF system allows for a faster, more accurate autofocus that is better able to acquire and track a subject
- Support for the 1000BASE-T standard increases wired-LAN transmission speed and a small size option for RAW images (12-bit uncompressed) for improved and speedier workflow
- An additional autofocus mode that enables smoother autofocusing and faster workflow during continuous shooting at 11fps
- Increased accuracy of auto-white balance for clear colour reproduction, even when shooting under difficult artificial lighting
- Improved video capabilities with Full (1080p) HD recording at 60p/50p/30p/25p
