Screen Tasmania is hosting a Q&A with senior ABC staff next Thursday from 4:00 pm. It’s an essential session for anyone wanting to get their productions on ABC television or to develop digital content for ABC online. Learn what the ABC is looking for, what they are not looking for, how to pitch a project and how the development and commissioning processes work.

Come along and meet the ABC’s new Director of Television Richard Finlayson who oversees the broadcasters television operations, including its digital television channels. He has a keen interest in Australian drama and developing ABC TV’s cross-platform content and digital innovations.
Head of Factual ABC Television Phil Craig is an experienced international factual executive producer who has worked with the BBC, Granada Television and other UK production companies, and co-produced a range of documentaries for ABC TV.
Head of Arts Katrina Sedgwick manages the commissioning of arts content for ABC television and online.
ABC’s new Head of Comedy Rick Kalowski is passionate about Australian comedy and is funny too – he recently co-created the political comedy At Home with Julia and the variety show Wednesday Night Fever and was a writer on Comedy Inc. Big Bite, and The Honourable Wally Norma.
Attention comedy writers: Rick is doing a Comedy Masterclass on Friday, 1 November 2013 at Screen Tasmania, Level 4, 22 Elizabeth Street – 9.30am to 11.30am
Rick is sharing his comedy writing tips and offering advice on how to develop a show that might one day make it onto in the ABC’s comedy slate.
