In addition, Panasonic have unveiled two F1.7 High Speed Single Focal Length Lens: LEICA DG SUMMILUX 15mm / F1.7 ASPH. (H-X015)
Panasonic has unveiled a new digital interchangeable lens for the LUMIX G Series range – the LEICA DG SUMMILUX 15mm / F1.7 ASPH. (35 mm camera equivalent: 30 mm), complying with the Micro Four Thirds standard.
The new LEICA DG SUMMILUX 15mm / F1.7 ASPH offers outstanding optical performance and is fast, compact and lightweight; allowing photographers to capture classic images with a beautiful shallow depth of field. It will be available in Australia in June 2014 in both black and silver, priced at RRP $799.
The lens is equipped with an aperture ring and AF/MF switch for direct, intuitive operation. It has a high-quality metal design and mount, which is designed to be reliable and durable in the field.
When mounted on LUMIX G cameras, the lens takes advantage of the high-speed, high-precision Contrast AF system. It is also compatible with the sensor drive at max.240 fps to take maximum advantage of LUMIX G cameras with high-speed AF such as the LUMIX DMC-GM1
The new lens system is comprised of 9 elements in 7 groups and uses 3 aspherical lenses, which effectively suppress spherical aberration and distortion, while allowing downsizing of the lens unit. Panasonic’s Nano Surface Coating technology minimises reflection across the entire visual light range (380nm-780nm) by applying an extra-low refractive index coating with nano-sized structure on the lens surface. It results in a crystal-clear picture with dramatic reduction of ghosts and flare.
The lens incorporates a superior inner focus system, which enables excellent resolution and contrast from close-up to infinity. The inclusion of a newly developed stepping motor makes the focusing action smooth and silent for use in both photo and video recording.
The LEICA DG SUMMILUX 15mm / F1.7 ASPH will be available as a new single lens kit with the LUMIX DMC-GM1 (DMC-GM1LGN-S) in June. Pricing will be announced closer to release.
