Earlier today, Sony announced their latest compact addition to the NXCAM line – the HXR–NX3.
The HXR–NX3 combines Sony’s leading lens and sensor technology with a new large-scale integration (LSI) chip. The camcorder also has WiFi capability, an NFC chip, dual media storage slots, remote control & easy sharing video capabilities and also allows recording in MP4 (up to 3mbs in 720p).
The HXR–NX3 is sporting Sony’s Exmor™ CMOS sensor system with three 1/2.8” sensors, for a 1920×1080 Full HD effective pixel count. You can shoot in AVCHD 2.0 format, (including 1080/60P) with uncompressed 8bit 4:2:2 or in DV format (for non-linear editing)
The WiFi allows direct connection to a smartphone (iOS & Android), for quickly sharing files or for use as a mobile display/remote controller. Just tap your NFC smartphone or tablet to the camcorder and they immediately connect for easy sharing/control (NFC capable devices only).
The camera will begin shipping world-wide in mid-late January; and will retail in Australia for $3999 Incl. GST (AUD).
