Røde Microphones has held its largest ever product launch for NAMM, introducing a new wireless system, Filmmaker Kit, NTR ribbon mic, and new NTG4 shotguns. The announcements took place at a simultaneous event held in San Diego, California.
RØDELINK DIGITAL WIRELESS SYSTEM
RØDELink is a fully-digital wireless audio system, using 2.4GHz, 128-bit encrypted transmissions, sent on two channels simultaneously, in a 24-bit/44.1k signal, at a range of up to 100 meters. The new system comes in a variety of receiver and transmitter options, and will be available in kits for designed specifically for either film, news gathering, presentation or stage use.
The first to be released will be the Filmmaker Kit, consisting of of a beltpack transmitter, an on-camera or beltpack receiver, and a broadcast quality Lavalier microphone.
“The RØDELink system will be one of the most affordable wireless solutions on the market.” Commented Peter Freedman, RØDE’s Founder and President, at the company event in San Diego. “Now the time is right for a revolution in wireless audio capabilities, and I believe that RØDELink will become the category leader in a very short space of time.”
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The RØDELink Filmmaker kit will be shipping globally in April 2015. There’s no word as yet on price. For more info, check: www.rodemic.com/wireless
NTG4 & NTG4+SHOTGUN MICROPHONES
Two new version of the very popular NTG shotgun microphones have also been announced, the NTG4 and NTG4+.
The mics feature a newly designed capsule, with lower noise and higher sensitivity, an on-board digital switching controlling a 75Hz high pass filter, 10db PAD and a high frequency boost that compensates for any high frequency attenuation when using a DeadCat windshield.
In a world first, Røde has equipped the mics with an internal rechargeable lithium battery, that will provide up to 150 hours of operating time, and can be charged via any USB using a MicroUSB cable (also supplied).
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The NTG4 and NTG4+ will be available globally in February 2015. Again, there’s no word as yet on price. For more info, check: www.rode.com/ntg4
NTR STUDIO RIBBON MICROPHONE
For those working in voice over or ADR in studio recording, the NTR microphone may be your new most favourite toy.
The microphone is designed so that the ribbon is separate to the mic’s frame and body, thereby minimising resonance and allowing for the best possible acoustic transparency around the element.
Featuring a high output, low noise, low impedance transformer and a ribbon element that has been designed completely from scratch, using laser cut aluminium that is only 1.8 microns thick (one of the thinnest ribbons ever used in a mic). Surrounding the ribbon is the same all-metal mesh that’s used on the SMR pop shield.
“It’s always been a dream of RØDE’s to create the world’s very best ribbon microphone, but the time was never quite right.” Exclaimed Damien Wilson, RØDE’s Global Sales and Marketing Director. “As many of you know, our manufacturing capabilities have expanded dramatically over the past few years, [allowing] us to realize this dream, and bring the NTR to life.”
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The NTR will be available globally in February 2015, with, yet again, no word as yet on price. For more info, check: www.rode.com/ntr
