DAVE STEIN – WINNER OF THIS WEEK RØDE SMARTLAV

This weeks winner of the Røde smartLAV is Dave Stein who hails from Dubbo, New South Wales.

Dave is currently studying a Bachelor of Media Communications and has in the past six years spent time creating beautiful 2d animations; with some of his work appearing on television in Australia and overseas.

This year he produced the live action short film Substituted as a part of his uni studies and last year he was a finalist in ABC Television’s At the Movies 25th Anniversary competition for a fictitious film trailer. Here’s the trailer he made:

In 2011 Dave created and produced the animated television series Platform 12 for the Melbourne Community Television Station C31.

His short animated film The Hat was selected by the producers of the Spanish television show VU87 to be screened as part of their show on 26th June 2008. It was shown not only on digital television in Spain, but also broadcast via satellite to Canada, U.S.A, Mexico and South America on the Spanish speaking television network Antena 3 International.

The Hat also won the Moving Film Category in the ANZ Breakout Festival 2007 (an internal arts festival).

He has also featured on the Australian ABC’s television show The Gruen Transfer, hosted by Wil Anderson. His short animation was used as a part of satirical advertisements promoting the show in 2008.

We look forward to seeing the great films and animations Dave will make using the smartLAV.
